Homemade guacamole is FAR better than any green goop from your local grocery store. After making this guacamole, you will never buy store bought guacamole again. I used to be a salsa and chips guy, but now that I have this recipe, I’m adding fresh guacamole everytime.
The key to amazing Guacamole is fresh produce. Spend that extra time finding perfectly ripe avocados and tomatoes. It’s amazing how fresh everything tastes when mixed together. The cilantro, limes, and salt are key in making this recipe work.
Spice & Heat Level of Fresh Guacamole
This recipe is written up so the whole family can enjoy, however there are a couple simple ingredients that you can change to get the spice level up. I use jalapenos in my guacamole recipe, but you can substitute them for something more potent, like a Serrano pepper. Most people keep the heat level down on guacamole, but feel free to experiment. I enjoy guacamole for the fresh, lime, and cilantro flavors, and I’m not focused on heat.
What can I put fresh Guacamole on?
I mainly use guacamole as a dip for nachos but it can be a very versatile side. We’ve put it on our birria tacos, beef enchiladas, carne asada plates, soup, toast, salads and even burgers. Let your imagination and your palette guide you with this side.
Enough said, let’s get on the homemade guacamole.
Serves 6-8
Equipment Needed
- Sharp Knife (I sharpen my knives with the Tumbler)

- Mixing Bowl
- Fork
- Spoon
Ingredients
- 3 Avocados – Ripe
- 2 Roma Tomatoes
- 1/2 Bunch Cilantro
- 1/2 Onion (White or Red)
- 1 Jalapeno’s
- 1 Lime (Juice)
- Kosher Salt to Taste

Fresh Guacamole
- Cut the avocados in half and remove the pit. Dig out the avocado from the skin. Discard the skin.

- Crush the avocados in a mixing bowl with a fork. Please don’t overdo it. We want to leave the avocado slightly chunky.

- Chop the onion and tomatoes into small pieces and add to the mixing bowl.

- Cut the ends of the jalapeno off and cut the jalapeno in half. Use a spoon to dig out the membrane and seeds from the jalapeno and discard. Chop the remaining jalapeno into small pieces and add to the mixing bowl.

- Rinse the cilantro with water and remove the stems. Chop the cilantro into fine pieces. Add to mixing bowl. Cilantro is a delicious ingredient that brings so much fresh flavor to the dish.

- Cut the limes in half and squeeze all the juice into the mixing bowl.

- I start by adding 1-2 teaspoons of salt and pepper, then add more to taste.

- Mix all the ingredients together with a fork. Taste and confirm if it needs more salt or lime.

- Enjoy. You’ve just made the best guacamole you’ll ever eat.
