Homemade guacamole is FAR better than any goop from your local grocery store. After making this guacamole, you will never buy pre-made guacamole again. I used to be a salsa and chips guy, but now that I have this recipe, I’m skipping the salsa for the guac.
The key to amazing Guac is fresh produce. Spend that extra time finding perfectly ripe avocados and tomatoes. It’s amazing how fresh everything tastes when mixed together. The cilantro, limes and salt are key in making this recipe work.
Guacamole is a Mexican dish which dates back to 500 BCE. It’s been around for a very long time and is still being made today.

Spice / Heat Level
This recipe is written up so the whole family can enjoy, however there are a couple simple ingredients that you can change to get the spice level up. I use jalapeno’s in my guacamole recipe but you can substitute them for something more potent like a Serrano pepper. Most people keep the heat level down on guacamole but feel free to experiment. I enjoy guacamole for the fresh, lime and cilantro flavors and I’m not focused on heat.
What can I put Guacamole on?
I mainly use guacamole as a dip for nachos but it can be a very versatile side. We’ve put it on our homemade brisket tacos, burgers, hotdogs, toast, salads and even seafood like grilled salmon. Let your imagination and your palette guide you with this side.
Enough said, let’s get on with it.
