Midway through December, Blackstone launched a new product that represented a major departure from the norm for the company. Blackstone has long been synonymous with outdoor griddles, and their new product does feature their 22-inch griddle, but they paired it with the company’s first-ever pellet grill to create the 22” XL Griddle Pellet Grill Combo.
That’s right, you can get a Blackstone griddle and a pellet grill in one unit. No longer do you have to worry about a pellet grill’s issues with searing. You can reverse-sear a cowboy steak by starting it on the pellet grill and then getting a beautiful crust on the 22-inch griddle.
The pellet grill side has 884 square inches of cooking space and is fueled by a 20lb pellet hopper. The main rack is cast iron as well. It does not have a traditional lid and instead has a roll-back hood much like a vintage roll-top desk. The hopper has a window so you can see how many pellets are left. It even has a foldaway shelf in front of the pellet grill so you have extra prep space.
Blackstone says that it has a “remote & digital control panel.” That hints at some sort of connectivity, whether that’s Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. It also has spots for four meat probes.
The griddle side has two burners and the same rear grease trap that all Blackstone griddles have. It also has a hood to help protect the griddle plate from the elements during storage. There is also a folding shelf to the side of the griddle, so Blackstone did a good job of giving users plenty of prep space. That shelf also boasts three tool hooks so you have a spot to hang your utensils while not using them.
At the moment, it appears that this is an exclusive partnership with Lowe’s Home Improvement, but we will update you as more information becomes available. At the moment, this looks like an incredible combo that will allow you to cook all your meals with one piece of equipment.
